LEED Green Building

The United States as well as many other countries has come to recognize LEED certification as the standard method for measuring sustainability in building. The best way to demonstrate that your home or building is really ‘green’ is through achieving LEED certification. The LEED green building rating system promotes design and construction practices that not only increase profitability but also reduce negative environmental impacts.

The Benefits of LEED Certification

LEED certification offers compelling proof to prospective buyers as well as the public in general that you have achieved significant environmental goals. Attaining certification also makes it possible for you to benefit from an increasing number of state and federal incentives. Four certification levels are offered for new construction. They are Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each level is based on the number of credits that are accrued in five different green categories; energy and atmosphere, water efficiency, sustainable sites, indoor environmental quality and materials and resources. In addition, LEED certification can also cover major renovation projects.
